Attorney General Kwame Raoul Endorses Pat Hynes for Cook County Assessor

CHICAGO, IL — Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul today announced his endorsement of Pat Hynes for Cook County Assessor, citing Hynes’ commitment to restoring integrity, fairness, and accuracy to Cook County’s property tax system.

“The property tax system affects every single one of us, from homeowners to small businesses,” said Attorney General Raoul. “Cook County desperately needs an Assessor who will bring integrity, fairness, and accuracy back to the office. That is why I’m proud to endorse Pat Hynes for Cook County Assessor.”

Raoul emphasized that the Cook County Assessor’s office must be a reliable institution that delivers accurate assessments on time.

“Pat is a proven public servant who understands how important it is that our property tax system is fair, transparent, and accountable,” Raoul continued. “As Assessor, Pat will fight to protect taxpayers and restore integrity to the system by correcting the property tax rolls and ensuring assessments that the public can trust. That is how we create a system that works for everyone, not just those with the most power and influence.”

Hynes welcomed Raoul’s endorsement and highlighted the importance of building a property tax system that is fair for all Cook County taxpayers.

“I’m honored to have the support of Attorney General Kwame Raoul,” said Hynes. “Attorney General Raoul has been a strong voice for fairness and justice across Illinois. I share his commitment to accountability and public trust, and as Cook County Assessor, I will work to ensure assessments are accurate, transparent, and applied fairly so taxpayers can have real confidence in the system.”

Raoul joins a growing list of elected officials, community leaders, and organizations rejecting Fritz Kaegi’s mismanagement and opting for stable, steady leadership in Pat Hynes.

Pat Hynes has served as the Lyons Township Assessor since 2021 and has 30 years of experience in the property tax industry. He spent two decades at the Cook County Assessor's Office and knows first hand how to make the office more accurate and fair for everyone. He is a certified Illinois assessing officer and member of the International Association of Assessing Officers.
