Hynes Campaign Launches First Broadcast Ad
Major ad buy highlights Hynes’ record as an accomplished career assessor and volunteer firefighter, while drawing contrast with Fritz Kaegi’s failures
Chicago, IL — Today, the Pat Hynes for Cook County Assessor campaign announced the launch of its first broadcast ad of the Democratic primary, Sounding the Alarm on Fritz Kaegi. The ad is part of a significant six-figure advertising buy across broadcast television and streaming platforms.
“Cook County can’t afford to get Fritz’d again,” said Allison Schraub, Campaign Manager for Pat Hynes. “Pat has spent his career working as a tenacious advocate for taxpayers and making sure assessments are fair, accurate, and transparent. That’s the leadership this office needs.”

The spot introduces Pat Hynes as a lifelong public servant, volunteer firefighter and EMT, and recognized assessment professional, while also drawing a sharp contrast with incumbent Fritz Kaegi’s record of mismanagement and utter lack of experience in the Assessor’s Office.
“Pat has spent more than 30 years doing the hard, technical work of making property taxes fair and accurate, and he has spent his life serving his community,” said Schraub. “This ad tells Pat’s story and makes clear what’s at stake in this election: competent, honest leadership versus more chaos, unpredictable assessments, and higher tax burdens for working families.”
The ad highlights Hynes’ background as the son of a Chicago firefighter and public school teacher, his service as a volunteer firefighter and EMT with the Western Springs Fire Department, and his decades of experience inside the Cook County assessment system. It also underscores growing frustration with Kaegi’s tenure, marked by hundreds of millions of dollars in unassessed property value, massive tax shifts onto South and West Side homeowners, and a steady collapse in public confidence.

Pat Hynes: When that alarm sounds, training turns into action.
I’m Pat Hynes, a volunteer firefighter and a professional assessor. I have 30 years experience in and out of government. I’m running for Cook County Assessor because incumbent Fritz Kaegi is failing.
A Tribune investigation found over $400 million in misclassified properties. It’s stunning incompetence, and you end up paying more.
The alarm has sounded, Cook County. It’s time for action.
