ABOUT PAT HYNES
Since 2021, Pat Hynes has served as Lyons Township Assessor. Pat has 30 years of experience in the property tax industry. He grew up in the Beverly neighborhood in Chicago. His Father is a retired Chicago Firefighter and mother a retired Chicago Public School Teacher. He spent 20+ years at the Cook County Assessor's Office and knows first hand how to make the office more accurate and fair for everyone. He is a certified Illinois assessing officer and member of the International Association of Assessing Officers. He holds a B.S. in Real Estate from DePaul University. Pat is also a volunteer firefighter/ EMT with the Western Springs Fire Department. He lives with his wife Margaret and three daughters, Sophie, Rita and Bridget in Western Springs.
Pat was honored with the Outstanding Achievement in Property Assessment – Large Jurisdiction Award at the 2025 IPAI State Conference for his nearly 30 years of service marked by innovation, fairness, and dedication to public trust. His leadership has transformed assessment practices through data-driven improvements, community outreach, and a commitment to excellence that has positively impacted taxpayers across his township and county.
